Renman Music & Business Content Manager, Producer
So the story goes, I formed a band in high school, played gigs around Southern California, fell in love with producing and recording the band’s music, and then made the crazy decision to forge a career in the music industry. I went to college at the University of Southern California (Fight On) and along the path to graduation played a little football for the Trojans, starting on Special Teams. Post graduation I’ve had a handful of Music Industry doors slammed in my face, produced a lot of my own music, and started an event/music production company.
Darren La Groe
Renman Music & Business Technical Director
In my freshman year of high school a buddy of mine asked me if I wanted to play bass guitar in his band. I quickly replied "yes" without having a clue what I was doing or any real musical experience. Later that week I convinced my mom to buy me a bass guitar and a little amp. A little skeptical, my mom rented me the guitar and amp. A few long months of band practice (in her garage) later, we started doing cover songs and playing LA clubs like the Whisky, Roxy, the Mint, of course the Anti Club. Shortly after that my uncle gave me a 4 track cassette recorder and I instantly found a passion for recording and mixing. In 1997 I decided to become a real audio engineer and began working at a recording studio in Santa Barbara. In 2000 I was offered my first tour as a FOH engineer and since then I have toured with, mixed and/or recorded some of the greatest bands and musicians of all time. Including: Incubus, Cheap Trick, Christina Agulera, The Cult, The Doors, Aimee Mann, Steel Pulse, English Beat, Vanilla Fudge, Stevie Wonder, Josh Grobin, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, Paul Simon, Barbara Streisand, David Foster, Dwight Yoakam, Randy Newman, Quincy Jones, Jeff Bridges, Knight Ranger, The Ataris, Don Henley, Michael McDonald, Perry Farrell, Missy Elliot, Bonnie Raitt, Goo Goo Dolls, Kenny G, Emmy Lou Herris. I am currently working on becoming a certified TriCaster operator and have been working as Technical Director for RenmanMB since November 2012.
